He had to struggle to earn a living. He opened a variety store but did not achieve any success. He got a job in a Bengali firm but had to resign it due to the behaviour of his boss. He remained an Insurance Agent for 10 years. Patol Babu tried every means of livelihood without succeeding in improving his lot. But he was a fighter. He never gave up.
