Answer» The Diwan and his men were determined to cut down the khejdi trees for fuel to the lime kilns. The Bishnois were determined too. Amritadevi, the wife of Bishnoi Ramkhod would not allow the workers to touch the trees. She and her three daughters clasped the trees till they were cut with the trees. So they laid down their lives to preserve their sacred heritage. दीवान तथा उनके आदमी चूने की भट्ठी के ईंधन के लिए पेड़ों को काटने पर आमादा थे। किंतु बिश्नोई भी दृढ़ संकल्पित थे। बिश्नोई रामखोद की पत्नी अमृता देवी ने श्रमिकों को पेड़ों के पास नहीं जाने दिया। उसने अपनी तीन पुत्रियों के साथ पेड़ों को तब तक आलिंगन में लिए रखा, जब तक वे पेड़ों के साथ कट नहीं गईं। अतः उन्होंने अपनी पवित्र विरासत की रक्षा हेतु अपने प्राणों का उत्सर्ग कर दिया। |
