Answer» Ananthakrishna IYER started of his journey as a social anthropologist by - voluntarily assisting a British administrator in an ethnographic survey.
- LATER on he was asked by dewan of chichin to ASSIST an ethnographic survey of the state.
- He also worked as unpaid superintendent of ethnography for British government.
- His work was recognized by British anthropologists and administrators.
- Afterwards, he initiated post graduate department of anthropology at university of Calcutta.
Sarat was not directly related to anthropology - He had a degree in English and law. But he pursued his career in teaching.
- Later he started working as official interpreter in court. From there he gained interest in the culture and society of tribal people.
- He traveled and gained practical KNOWLEDGE from tribal communities.
- This lead to his interest in anthropology and he wrote many articles afterwards.
