Good answer gaurav
since independence\xa0India is aiming at self-sufficiency in food grains.Indian policy makers had adopted new measures to increase self-sufficiency in food grains.A new programme in agriculture known as the "Green Revolution" has been adopted by India especially in the production of wheat and rice. The main idea behind this programme was to increase production by using modern methods of agriculture, HYV seeds chemical fertilisers etc.The highest production was achieved in Punjab and\xa0Haryana.The production of foodgrain increased from 7.23 million tonnes in\xa01964–65 to 218\xa0million tonnes in 2009–10.\u200bSince the advent of the Green revolution\xa0in the early 70s, the country managed to get rid of famine even during adverse weather\xa0conditions.\u200b
