In this book,James Millhasdivided Indian historyinto three periods… According toMillbefore the British came toIndia, Hindu and Muslim dictators ruled the country. this is how he divided into Hindu & Muslim . James Mill is that historian who is deemed as the first person to write about India in a serial order. The sole purpose of Mill to state a view about India was to defend the reason behind British intervention in Indian affairs. According to him India was backward and had unacceptable culture. With various superstitious beliefs prevailing in the country, the people were very arrogant. He further organized the country into three eras and stated that India grew or made changes only in terms of religious practices. James mill view India as uncivilized who believe in superstitious practice and caste taboos. Before colonial rule the the India was considered as ignorance and darkness. |
