How do we calculate number of electrons in an orbit

Answer» No. Of electrons in an atom is same as it\'s atomic no......no. of atoms in a shell can be found out by 2nsquare rule....let\'s take an example of neon....it\'s atomic no. Is 10...so it consist 10 electrons,...in its K shell...n=1 son by doing 2nsquare....2×1*1=2 so in Kshell three will be 2 electrons....in L shell n=2 so by rule no .of electrons in it are 8....so in this way 10 electrons of neon are distributed in different shells....but after L shell... remember that the two n Square rule is overlapped by octet rule
