How do you account for the following differences(a) The left ventricle has thicker walls than the rightventricle.(b) The walls of the right ventricle are thicker than thoseof the right auricle. |
|
Answer» a)ventricles have thicker walls than the atria and generate higher blood pressures _ _ further , the left ventricles has thicker walls than the right because it need to pump blood to most of the body while the right ventricles fills only the lungs. (a) The left ventricle has thicker walls than the right because it pumps blood throughout the body, while the right ventricle pumps only to the lungs, which is a much smaller volume of blood. During ventricular systole, the ventricles contract, pumping blood through the semi-lunar valves into systemic circulation. (b) Ventricles have thicker walls than auricle because they have to do more work. On the right and left sides of the heart, the auricle act as receiving chambers for incoming blood. The ventricles, on the other hand, have to pump the blood out of the heart. |
