How do you account for the strong reducing power of lithium in aqueous solution? |
| Answer» Lithium is the strongest reducing agnet in aqueous soltuion among the alkali metals. This is attrabuted to very small size of `Li^(+)` ion and very large hydration enthalpy which is released. This overcomes both lattice enthalpy and ionisation enthaply that are absorbed. | |
