How does pressure help in liquidation of a gas |
| Answer» when you apply pressure for compressing you decrease the space available for the molecules and hence the collission frequency increases if we don’t change temperature. But when we lower the temperature we take the energy from molecules and thus due to low energy they come closer to each other without changing pressure of gas. When you apply external pressure on a gas the molecules of gas come closer to each other.thus the frequency of collision of molecules increases and the pressure of gas increases which opposes further increase in external pressure, and when this happens the volume of the gas decreases in this case temperature of gas remains contant if we compress it only via pressure. | |
