Answer» Food security system in India has two components: first is buffer stock and second is PDS Public Distribution system Buffer stock is a stock of food grains namely wheat and rice prepared by the government throw Food Corporation of India the FCI purchase wheat and rice from the farmers in States where there is a surplus production the Purchase food grains are stored in granaries this is done to distribute food grains in the deficit areas and among the poor Strata of society at the price of lower than the market price also known as issue price this this helps in resolving the problem of shortage of food. Public distribution system : poor people throw ration shops the items are sold to the poor people at a price lower than the market price. Other schems : over the years several new programs have been launched like mid day meal antyodaya Anna Yojana etc for food security.
Through Public Distribution System( PDS ) where the food grains are distributed through ration shops to people below poverty line
