How is hydrogen peroxide is used to restore the white colour of old paintings. |
|
Answer» SOLUTION :Hydrogen peroxide is used to restore the white colour which was lost due to the reaction of hydrogen sulphide in air with the white PIGMENT `Pb_(3)(OH)_(2)(CO_(3))_(2)` to form black COLORED lead sulphide (PBS). Hydrogen peroxide oxidises black coloured lead sulphide to white coloured lead sulphate, there by restoring the colour. `Pbs+4H_(2)O_(2)toPbSO_(4)+4H_(2)O` |
