Innate immunity can be accomplished by the following barriers

(i) Physiological barriers: Tears in eyes, acid in the stomach, and saliva in mouth, etc. prevent microbial growth. 

(ii) Cytokine barriers: Interferons produced by virus-infected cells protect non-infected cells from further viral infection.
