How is wrought iron different from steel?

Wrought iron or malleable iron is the purest form of commercial iron and is prepared rom cast iron by oxidising impurities in a reverberatory furnace lined with haematite. This haematiteoxidises carbon to carbon monoxide: 

Fe2O3 + 3 C → 2 Fe + 3 CO whereas steel is an alloy of iron and carbon
