There will be on and only Queen bee , many FEMALE WORKER bees and many MALE DRONES.A bee hive contains nearly 10,000 to 60,000 bees. The life span of a bee is short . The Queen is the largest bee and lays all the eggs that maintain the hive population. The QUEENS are developed from larvae selected by worker bees and specially FED in order to become sexually mature. There is normally only one adult, mated queen in a hive, in which case the bees will usually follow and fiercely protect her.Worker bee does not have well developed reproductive system as the Queen bee. Worker bee only collects the pollen grains from the flower with the help of pollen bags on its back legs.Unlike the female worker bee , drones do not have stingers and do not participate in nectar and pollen GATHERING. A drones' primary role is to mate with a fertile queen. Drones are the product of unfertilised egg. Please see the pics too .
