How to find pH values of given M (molarity)Eg:A solution of 0.1 M NaOH solution is given. What is the pH???

Answer»

Answer: =

pH = - log [H^{+}] or -log [OH^{-}]

Explanation:

If the molarity of a solution is given then,

First write  the IONISATION reaction  of the Ionic COMPOUND given

For example=

NaOH ⇄ Na^{+} + OH^{-}

Here OH^{-} ions are being formed.

So [ OH^{-}] = Molarity of NaOH

Now, USE the formula-

pH= -log [OH^{-}]

Hope this is useful. PLEASE rate the answer.
