How to work hydroulic lift |
Answer» A typical hydraulic automobile lift consists of two pistons, one small and other big, connected on two separate ends of a bent tunnel, one end with bigger cross section A2 than other end A1. The organization of components in the system is such that a small force F1 applied on the smaller piston A1 gets multiplied to result in a bigger force at the bigger piston A2 which is connected to the platform where automobiles are placed to be lifted. According to Pascal\'s law, for any fluid of density D, P1 = P2. F1A1 = F2A2. F2 = A2/A1 × F1 (where, A2/A1 is also known as MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE) | |
