Answer» In the crystal lattice, transition elements have interstitial vacant space into which small sized nonmetal atoms such as H,B, C, or N are trapped. These compounds are non-stoichiometric, neither typically ionic nor covalent. e.g., TiC, MH, Fe₃H etc.
