1.

If any angiosperm male plant is diploid and female plant is hexaploid. What will be the ploidy level of endosperm

Answer»

ANSWER:

EXPLANATION:

The hexaploid female contains 6n number of CHROMOSOMES wheras the diploid MALE contains 2n number of chromosomes!

Hence, ploidy of egg = 6n/2 = 3n

Ploidy of the sperm = 2n/2 = n

Hence, after fertilisation the endosperm is formed by fusion of 2 male cells and 1 female cell. Therefore, the ploidy will be= 3n + n + n = 5n
