(i) P(E or F) = P(E ∪ F) = P(E) + P(F) - P(E ∩ F) 

= 1/4 + 1/2 - 1/7 = (7 + 14 - 4)/28 = [17/28]

(ii) P(E' ∩ F') = P(E ∪ F)' = 1 - P(E ∪ F) = 1 - 17/28 = 11/28
