Here, ft – 3, 2k + 1 and 4k + 3 are three consecutive terms of an A.P. 

∴ 2k + 1 – (k – 3) = 4k + 3 – (2k + 1) 

⇒ 2k + 1 – k + 3 = 4k + 3 – 2k – 1 

⇒ k + 4 = 2k + 2 

⇒ 2k – k =4 – 2 

⇒ k = 2 

Hence, the value of ft is 2.
