1.

If photosynthesis and cellular respiration form a cycle, why do plants need to continually take in carbon dioxide, oxygen, and water from the environment?

Answer»

The reason they form a cycle is because of the DIFFERENCES between plants and ANIMALS. Plants can only PREFORM photosynthesis and animals can only do cellular respiration. Animals CONTINUALLY release carbon DIOXIDE into the air, which is taken by plants. Plants also continually lose water water, so they need to reabsorb it.
