1.

If x2 + y2 – 4x – 8y + k = 0 represents a point circle find k

Answer»

Given x2 + y2 – 4x – 8y + k = 0 is a point circle

⇒ r = 0, g = -2, f = -4 & c = k

and \(\sqrt{g^2 + f^2 - C} = r\)

\(\sqrt{4 + 16 - k} = 0\)

\(= \sqrt{20 - k} = 0\)

⇒ k = 20 S.B.S
