If you are lost lost in a Jungle how how can a topographic map help you to come out of the Jungle |

Answer» I would think a TOPOGRAPHICAL map would make getting out a bit easier than a flat map because with a flat map you may not be able to find landmarks as easily. You’d have to wait until you come across something in a 2D plain that lets you know where you are in relation to the map. But with a topographical map being 3 DIMENSIONAL, you might be able to find a landmark LETTING you know where you are from further away (for example if you know there is a mountain with a 3000′ elevation in the direction you WANT to go… you may be able to see that from several miles away through the treeline. But with a 2D map if you know there is a river somewhere… you’d have to be much closer to realize where you are. Now if you are in a flat jungle without much change in elevation, a topographical map may not be much better. THANK you !Explanation: |
