In a ∆ABC, it is given that AD is the internal bisector of ∠A. If AB = 10cm, AC = 14cm and BC = 6cm, then CD = ? (a) 4.8cm (b) 3.5cm (c) 7cm (d) 10.5cm

By using angle bisector in ∆ABC, we have

AB/AC = BD/DC

⇒ 10/14 = 6 − x/x

⇒ 10x = 84 – 14x

⇒ 24x = 84

⇒ x = 3.5
