Solar Energy Policy 2021: - The Gujarat state has announced new solar power policy-2021.
- Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced Solar Power Policy for the next five years in 2021 on December 29, 2020.
- The policy aims to reduce industrial unit power costs by almost 50% and to eliminate any ceiling for the construction of a solar project within the state.
- The government's policy also requires customers to provide a third party with their premises or roofs for lease and power use at the same premises.
- In the presence of Saurabh Patel, Minister of State for Energy, and Sunaina Tomar, Principal Secretary of the CM declared in Gandhinagar (Energy & Petrochemicals).
- The state has achieved 11,000 Mega Watt of production capacity and now has set a target of producing 30,000 Mega Watt of green energy by 2022 which will largely include solar and wind energy.
- The new solar power policy 2021 will increase the consumption and production of solar energy thus reducing production cost for industries and help Made in Gujarat brand increase its presence in global markets.
- The Security deposit is reduced from Rs 25 lakh per Mega Watt to Rs 5 Lakh per Mega Watt.
