It provides employment to about 60% of labour force and contributes 22% in our GNP i.e. Gross National Product. Agriculture feeds our large population and aols supplies raw material for many industries. Out of our total foreign exchange income, 18% comes by exporting agricultural products. Hence, we can rightly say that India is an agrarian country.
