Iron pieces are attracted towards a magnet but zinc pieces are no. Why ? |
Answer» Solution :Iron contains unpaired electrons  and hence is paramagnetic whereas ZINC has no unpaired electron `(._(30)ZN = [AR]^(18) 3d^(10) 4S^(2))` and hence is diamagnetic. It is rather repelled by the magnet.
