Answer»  there is no generalisation that across a PERIOD bond length decreases as bond orders may be different for different molecules ( 3 for N2 2 for O2 and 1 for F2) also generalisation of bond order in a group depends upon the type of the compound formed , eg in group 17 if bond length is COMPARED for F2 Cl2 and Br2 it'll be in order ( Cl2  |
