Is PCl5 an oxidising or a reducing agent? Justify your answer. |
|
Answer» Phosphorus has five valence electrons so it cannot exceed its oxidation state beyond +5 so it cannot act as reducing agent but it can acquire lower oxidation state like +3 etc. Thus, PCl5 can act as oxidising agent only. |
