Is Watson Analytics Hipaa Ready? |
|
Answer» The IBM HIPAA Program Office (HPO) has deemed that Watson Analytics now meets certain controls as specified in the US Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The offering is ready to accept Protected Health Information (PHI). To onboard a customer who is HIPAA regulated, a Business Associates Agreement (BAA) must be SIGNED and the customer must feel comfortable that Watson Analytics’ security posture meets their requirements. Once WA accepts PHI, the offering becomes regulated by the US DEPARTMENT of Health and Human Services. Note: The compliant and recommended way to load Personal Health Information DATA into Watson Analytics is to load via a CSV in the WEB UI or by leveraging the public push data APIs. The IBM Bluemix Data Connect that is integrated in Watson Analytics is not HIPAA enabled at this time.
