Life cycle of gymnosperms? |
| Answer» Gymnosperm, any vascular plant that\xa0reproduces\xa0by means of an exposed seed, or ovule—unlike angiosperms, or flowering plants, whose seeds are enclosed by mature ovaries, or fruits. The seeds of many\xa0gymnosperms\xa0(literally “naked seeds”) are borne in cones and are not visible until maturity. The\xa0life cycle\xa0of a\xa0gymnosperm\xa0involves alternation of generations, with a dominant sporophyte in which the female gametophyte resides, and reduced gametophytes. All\xa0gymnosperms\xa0are heterosporous. The male and female reproductive organs can form in cones or strobili. | |
