Lithium iodide is more covalent than Lithium chloride. Give reason. |
|
Answer» Solution :(i) The smaller CATION and larger anion shows greater covalent CHARACTER DUE to greater extent of polarisation. (ii) The sizè of `Li^(+)` ion issmaller than `Na^(+)` ion and hence the POLARISING power or `Li^(+)` ion is more. So lithium chloride is more covalent than sodium chloride. |
