M³ - 3M² - 6M = 0

M(M² - 3M - 6) = 0

M = 0 or M² - 3M - 6 = 0 ....(i)

Solving (i) by completing the square method,

M² - 3M - 6 = 0

M = {3 ±√9-4(1)(-6)} / 2

M = (3 ±√9+24) / 2

M = (3 ±√33) / 2

So, the roots are M = 0 or M = M = (3 ±√33) / 2
