Mention any two features of Tropical grasslands

Answer»

The GRASSLANDS located between the tropic of cancer and tropic of capricorn is categorized into tropical grasslands. They receive an annual rainfall of about 90-110 cm.

Explanation:

  • The tropical grasslands are GENERALLY called SAVANNAH, and the Savannah of Africa is the LARGEST amongst them.
  • It is scattered in the countries like Kenya, Tanzania, and provides a source for creating large biodiversity.
  • These grasslands have generally two types of seasons: the dry season and the wet season.
  • Among these dry season is more prevalent and grasses needs to have some special xerophytic adaptations to grow there, for example, the long roots to absorb water during dry season.
  • The wet season is characterised by abundance of grasses throughout the Savannah.
  • These grasslands are prone to natural forests fires during the dry season, and the dried grass acts as a FUELS.
