1.	MnO_(2) used as a catalyst in the preparation of oxygen from KClO_(3) should be completely free of carbon. Justify.
Answer» Solution :`MnO_(2)` usually contains coal as impurity. If such `MnO_(2)` is used, carbon when heated with potassium chlorate leads to an EXPLOSION with the release of enormous amount of heat since it is a highly EXOTHERMIC reaction.
