| Answer» Gastric pits\xa0are indentations in the\xa0stomach\xa0which denote entrances to 3-5 tubular shaped\xa0gastric glands. They are deeper in the pylorus than they are in the other parts of the\xa0stomach. The human\xa0stomach\xa0has several million of these\xa0pits\xa0which dot the surface of the lining epithelium.\xa0Parietal cells\xa0(also known as oxyntic or delomorphous cells) are the epithelial cells that secrete hydrochloric acid (HCl) and intrinsic factor. These cells are located in the gastric glands found in the lining of the fundus and in the cardia of the stomach. | |
