Name the law used to give the direction of force on a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field. State this law. |

Answer» The Fleming’s left-hand rule gives the direction of force experienced by current carrying conductor placed in an external magnetic field. Fleming’s left hand rule: When an electric current passes through a straight wire, an external magnetic field is applied across that flow, the wire experiences a force perpendicular to both, the field and to the direction of the current flow. It states that, if a left hand is held, so that thumb, first finger and second finger are held mutually perpendicular to each other. The thumb represents the direction of motion resulting from the force on the conductor. The first finger represents the direction of the magnetic field. Then, the second finger represents the direction of the current. |
