The Congress was separated into Congress (O) and Congress (R). Leaders and followers of the Syndicate were part of Congress (O) i.e, Organisation. Indira Gandhi and her followers formed the Congress (R) i.e, Restitution. Congress (O) came to be known as the old Congress while the Congress (R) came to be known as the new Congress.
