Answer» After the war the narrator thought that she should go to Marconi street no.46 and bring back all the belongings that her mother gave away to an old acqiuiantance Dorling. But little did she know that Dorling would adress her in such an ill manner that she had to return back. But determined she was, she went back and knocked back but a girl of 15 opened the door. But the main thing is that after entering the house and after finding that the antique peices are being kept in such a manner that she wanted to just run away from there. Although the \'things\' which she considers after looking at them at that manner were antique and beautiful she couldn\'t relate with them,maybe because now they were in someone else\'s provision.
