Answer» (i) Nastaliq was the art of writing or calligraphy. Akbar liked this style as it is a fluid style with long horizontal strokes. (ii) A piece of trimmed reed with a tip of 5 to 10 mm was used to write. It was called ‘qalam’ dipped in siyahi. Its nib usually split in the middle to facilitate the absorption of siyahi. (iii) Muhammad Hussain from Kashmir was one of super calligraphers of nastaliq style at Akbar’s court. (iv) Mohammad Hussain was honoured with the title ‘zarrin qalam’ in recognition of the perfectly proportioned curvature of his letter and beatification.
