Plant tissues are mainly divided into meristematic tissue and permanent tissues. Meristematic cells are those which are capable of active DIVISION and are further classified as apical,intercalary and lateral meristem. Second are the permanent tissues which cannot DIVIDE and are classified as simple permanent and complex permanent tissues. Simple permanent are classified as parenchyma,collenchyma and screlenchyma. Complex are divided into xylem and PHLOEM which are known as vascular bundles of plants.

Characteristics:-

It is the basic packaging tissue that fills the SPACES between other tissues and is FOUND most abundantly in plants.

They have undifferentiated cells with thin cell walls made of cellulose.

They have large intercellular spaces as the cells are loosely packed.
