[OH-] in aqueous solution A is = 4.3*10^-4 M and [H3 O+] in aqueous solution of B is 7.3*10^-10 M, pH of which solution will be less ? Which solution will be more basic ? Page 152 Chapter - 7.Acids, Bases and Salts

Answer»

In any solution the concentration of H+ or OH- ion will always be more than 10–7, SINCE pure water always contains 10–7 mol/LITER of both of H+ and OH- ion. So if the concentration of any ion is LESS than 10–7 mol/ liter the problem should be dealt as above-mentioned.
