One of the two numbers is twice the other. The sum of the numbers is 12. Find the numbers.

Let the one number be x.

So, other number = 2x

According to question,

x + 2x = 12

⇒ 3x = 12

⇒ x = 12/3 = 4

∴ Other number is 2x = 2 × 4 = 8
