Oxygen is necessary for complete oxidation of glucose |
|
Answer» Oxygen plays a major ROLE in the oxidative phosphorylation process of the aerobic RESPIRATION. In this process, the hydrogen ions merge with the oxygen content for form water. It makes oxygen an essential resource for the oxidation process of glucose. Aerobic respiration happens in three steps: glycosis; the Krebs cycle; and ELECTRON transport phosphorylation. Oxygen is not REQUIRED during glycosis but it is necessary for the rest of the CHEMICAL reactions to take place. |
