Answer» Monocot means only 1 cotyledons are present is calld monocot. Diocot means two cotyledons are present . Cotyledons means seed leave . Based on the number of cotyledons present in the seed, all flowering plants are classified into monocots and dicots. Monocots are called as monocotyledonous plants and dicots are called as dicotyledonous plants.*Monocots exhibit fibrous root system whereas Dicots exhibit taproot system.*Leaves in monocots show parallel venation whereas leaves in dicots show reticulated venation.*Monocot flowers possess petals in the multiples of three whereas Dicot flowers possess petals in multiples of four or five.*Monocots do not show any secondary growth whereas Dicots sometime exhibit secondary growth.*Vascular bundles are scattered in the stem of monocots.
