The social and economic dimensions of a country are based on the health of people, their level of education attainment and their standard of living. TheHuman Development Index(HDI) is a statistic composite index oflife expectancy,education, andper capita incomeindicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers ofhuman development. A country scores a higher HDI when thelifespanis higher, theeducationlevel is higher, and the gross national incomeGNI (PPP) per capitais higher.
