Q6. How can you show with the help of experiment:1)Sodium chloride solution is a good conductor of electricity,2)Iron is more reactive than copper.3)Exhaled air contains carbon dioxide.

Answer»

Answer:

Explanation:

1)Sodium chloride solution is a good conductor of electricity,

To prove this, we need:-

  • An Jug
  • BRINE Solution or salt solution
  • Electrodes
  • Battery

What we need to do is, insert the electrodes in the Brine solution and then, we will see the ELECTROLYSIS of NaCl. This will be NA+ and Cl- ions. This shows they are good conductors.

2)Iron is more reactive than copper.

Carrying out an experiment with

  • Iron Nail
  • Copper Sulphate

\sf{Fe+CuSO_4 \longrightarrow FeSO_4 + Cu}

Copper gets displaced and FeSO4 is formed. This shows Iron is reactive than Copper.

Exhaled air contains carbon DIOXIDE.

For this, we need:-

  • Lime water
  • A container

Taking a pichkari, we can fill in the air exhaled by us in Lime water. We will observe formation of white precipicate ie \sf{CaCO_3 + H_2O} which only occurs in PRESENCE of Carbon dioxide. Hence, exhaled air contains Carbon Dioxide.
