Answer» Answer: R.H.Whittaker's classification- it was developed in the year 1969 by R.H.Whittaker
- it is called FIVE KINGDOM CLASSIFICATION
- the five kingdoms are MONERA , PROTISTA, FUNGI, PLANTAE ,ANIMALIA
- the new kingdom introduced in this classification is kingdom PROTISTA.
- he grouped all the UNICELLULAR EUKARYOTES in kingdom protista
BASIS OF CLASSIFICATION:- cell type....... unicellular or multicellular
- nucler organization...... prokaryotic or eukaryotic
- cell structure.....presence or absence of cell wall
- phylogenetic relationships
KINGDOM MONERA:- it includes BACTERIA, cyano bacteria, mycoplasma, PROKARYOTES.
- prokaryotes are those organisms that do not have WELL defined nucleus and do not have membrane bound organelles
KINGDOM PROTISTA: - this kingdom has all unicellular eukaryotes.
- eukaryotes are those that have well defined nucleus and membrane bound organelles
- it includes PROTOZOA and EUKARYOTIC MICROBES
KINGDOM FUNGI:- it includes FUNGI.
- fungi have chitinous cell wall and they are heterotrophic
KINGDOM PLANTAE:- it includes ALGAE, plants
- they have chlorophyll pigments
- they are mostly autotrophic and have cellulosic cell wall
KINGDOM ANIMALIA:- it includes animals that are terrestrial or aquatic.
- these organisms do not have cell wall
- they are completely heterotrophic
