Question : 2H_(2)O rarr 4H^(+) + O^(2) + 4e^(-) Based on the above equation, answer the following question Where does this reaction takeplace in plants ? (b) What is the significations of this reaction ? |
|
Answer» Solution :This reaction take place is PS-II. It is located inside of thylakoid. It is a centre of decomposition of water where electron is released from water. For that `Mn^(+)` and Ci like ions are catalysts. (b) Decomposition of water is IMPORTANT inphotosynthesis (i) `O_(2)` is released i this process. That is a main source of `O_(2)` in AIR and it is necessary for each living organism (on the earth). Hydrogen ions which are produced form NADPH by doing reduction of NADP which is a STRONG reducing agent. (iii) The `e^(-)` which are produced, enter from PS-II to PS-I by electron transport system that is required for SYNTHESIS of ATP. |
