Question : A farmer adds/supplies Na, Ca, Mg and Fe regularly to his field and yet he observes that the plants show deficiency of ca,Mg and Fe Give a valid reason and suggest a way to help the farmer improve the growth of plants. |

Answer» Solution :Plants bear micronutrient in PARTICULAR amounts. Their moderate decrease CAUSES the deficiency of symptoms and a moderate increase causes toxicity. Any mineral ion concentration reduces the dry weight of tissues about 10% is considered toxic. Such concentration vary widely among micronutrients. It is different for defferent plants. FOr eg. The amount of `MN^(+2)600 mu gg^-1` is more toxic to soyabean and more than 5300 `mu gg^-1` it is toxic for sunflower. OR `5300 mu gg^-1` is more toxic for sunflower. It is ALSO seen that toxicity of one micro nutrient causes the deficiency of other ELEMENT. For its cure farmer must use mineral element is fixed concentration. SO absorption of one element does not eliminate absorption of other element. |
